Excitement Mounts for the Papal Visit




Admirers around the world are eagerly anticipating Pope Francis’ visit to the United States.  The Pope will visit from September 22-27, traveling to Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia.

Washington, D.C.

Sister Sharon Bailey, Congregational President, is headed to D.C. on September 23.  The Pope has called a gathering of Superiors Generals of American religious congregations for a special meeting.

Linda Hanna, SSJ Associate, will be heading to DC as well where an interfaith service and rally on the Mall are planned.  In preparation for the Pope’s visit, Linda has prepared weekly reflections on the encyclical, Laudato Si, which can be found on the SSJ website.  CLICK HERE

New York City

On September 25, Sisters Lorraine Julien, Marilyn Pray and Donna Del Santo will board a Greyhound Bus and head to New York City to see Pope Francis at Madison Square Garden.    

Philadelphia

SSJ Associate Patty Janiak and her husband Joe will be going to Philadelphia September 25-27 to see “wonderful Pope Francis” with Sister Mary Bernarde Entress, RSM and 52 other people on a bus trip. 

Local Events and Observances

  • The SSJ Global Environment Committee invites you for a  Holy Hour at the Motherhouse Chapel on Wednesday, September 23 from 4:00-5:00p.m in anticipation of the Pope’s address to Congress on Thursday, September 24.
